Were there any connections between the development of linear programming, game theory, and optimization, and the development of computers at that time? How much did math programming and optimization influence computer development?

I was never aware of any influence from mathematical programming to computer. We certainly used a lot of computer time and perhaps that boosted the industry, but I'm not aware that any design judgments were ever made to benefit working mathematical programming. On the other hand, of course, you couldn't possibly do linear programming without a computer.
